It was an experience during ES2007S presentations. Other presentations I had gave for other modules were not as "scary" as this. It might be because most of the presentations were only giving out information while this presentation aims to promote something.
For my part, I was rather nervous at the start. It was because that since I was the first speaker, I had to set the tone for the presentation. On top of it, my group was presenting last. The concentration span of the audience must had waned after the second presentation. Hence, there was some pressure to wake the audience up and keep their attention. Overall, I felt that I did fine. I managed to speak more fluently as compared to the first and maintained most of the strengths.
Although the presentation was not as persuausive as it should be, I felt that the group did well overall. The most overwhelming part was the Q&A session. Due to time constraints, we could not answer all the questions. On top of it, there were some questions that were not answered thoroughly. It was a pity as I felt if we had practiced more on Q&A, there might not be so much jittery.
Finally, I would like to extend my thanks to my Team members who cooperated throughout the whole preparation and to everyone which helped me improved. Thank You!

Hello Kenneth,
ReplyDeleteThank you for being the leader for this ES project!
I felt that you did a good job with the introduction , 'waking' the audience with a very enthusiastic voice! I think you did a great job as the audience did respond by laughing when you infused some humor into the slides.
Although you sounded a bit more nervous , i am glad you overcame that and delivered a lasting introduction. ( for me , at least)

Dear Kenneth,
ReplyDeleteI would firstly like to comment that it was an apt decision to put you as first speaker as you have this comical air about you, and I mean it in a good way, that is refreshing to people and make them want to listen to you.
Regarding your post, I feel that you did correctly portrayed the difficulties that you faced as the first speaker of the last group presenting. In addition, the post is rather succint and to the point.
There is a grammatical slip in your post which may be easily overlooked, if not for it being at the second line of the opening. I am referring to the part "I had gave" which should be "I had given".
All in all, it was enjoyable to listen to your presentation. :)

Dear Kenneth,
ReplyDeleteFirstly, thanks for being the leader and being nice always.
Coming to your presentation, i felt like the rest that it was humorous, which served your purpose of catching the attention of the audience well. Although most mentioned that you were nervous, I felt that you sounded at ease and confident. You managed to add in addition information such as greeting the "judges" even though it was last minute. Overall, I felt that it was a great delivery on your part. It is agreeable that due to time constraint we were unable to be thorough in our answers for some areas.
I would like to thank you too for being a great teamplayer and of course a leader. Thanks for all the fun and laughter. :)
Best Regards
Ying Hui

ReplyDeleteDear Kenneth,
ReplyDeleteI agree that it was hard to be the last group, especially the opening speaker. I feel that you have improved in terms of confidence as compared to your first presentation though a bit more is required which accounted for that tinge of nervousness. Your relaxed nature was another plus point and your enthusiasm clearly showed through.
As for your blog post, you have done an excellent job of picking the most important points to touch and elaborate on – your role as the opener as well as the difficulty with the Q & A section. You chose your content well and thought through the organization of the post . However, I feel that you can be more concise while getting the same points across, and there are also some slips in grammar which you need to pay attention to.
I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation as you were very joyful and used very good attention-grabbing openers and visuals to fulfill your role as the opening speaker.

Hi Kenneth,
ReplyDeleteYou improved tremendously as compared to the first time you presented. Appropriate tone and language were greatly improved. Still you kept your natural ability to smile to the audience which definitely is worth learning.
As your group was the last group, I believe it's understandable that the pressure may have affected your performance, but overall it was a good one. Do try to take initiative during the Q&A.
As for your blog post, you managed to put your key points across in a very direct and concise manner. However, you must pay attention to your sentence structure and grammatical errors.
Just as prameet has mentioned, I enjoyed your presentation and I can't help by pay attention to you when you speak, I suppose that's your natural charisma.
Wish you all the best and hope you will continue improving to become an even better speaker!
